Fit to be Wed; A Bride's Story

The wedding date had been set and the countdown had begun. There were lots of decisions to be made. An important one for me was to join a gym and begin a weight loss program to ensure that I would look and feel my best on the day of the wedding.

I was browsing through the Premier Bride Magazine, and spied an inspiring article on the Fit to be Wed program. It was a success story written by a bride who had completed the program and made a positive lifestyle change. I called to schedule an appointment with Heather, the program founder and coordinator. It was immediately clear, after meeting with Heather, that the Fit to be Wed program was exactly what I needed!

Heather wanted to know about me, my personal goals, as well as upcoming events for the wedding. We identified the time frame we had to work in and how we would schedule the program to coincide with important upcoming wedding events. Wedding details are not a typical topic you would talk about with a personal trainer, but this is no ordinary fitness program. This is the Fit to be Wed program and Heather wanted to make sure that we kept the wedding day in mind.

The Fit to be Wed program brought out my best during this fun and busy time in my life. Initially, I was concerned that I would not be able to commit the time needed for the workouts. But I did. I worked out with Heather twice a week for 12 weeks, exercised every workday morning, and made changes to my diet. It is amazing what exercising can do for you and how it makes you feel. It gives you strength and energy to live life and accomplish your goals. The date of the wedding was getting closer every week, and I could see and feel my body changing.

Heather scheduled weigh-ins every week and took measurements every 4 weeks. We reevaluated the progress that I had made and then identified specific areas that needed more work. As a result, I lost 15.75 inches off my entire body! I was surprised how much better my clothes fit. I also had an increased amount of energy. Once I got into the routine, my body needed the exercise and I craved it. On the rare occasions when I would miss my workouts, I found myself eager to get back into the gym. My fiancé' was so impressed that he started working out too!

It takes motivation, commitment and effort to become fit. Once I made the commitment to making a lifestyle change, everything else came together. I felt very proud of myself for completing the 12 week program and the accomplishments I had made. On my wedding day, I felt confident and I have Fit to be Wed and Heather to thank.
